Quality Control Supervisor
Department: Quality Control
Reports to: QA/QC Manager

Position Summary

Develop, implement and manage quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of Voltaix products (consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals). Supervise a team of quality control chemists.


Responsibilities/Duties
  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
  • Supervise workers engaged in Quality Control and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
  • Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams.
  • Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
  • Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with others to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within Company.
  • Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
  • Interact with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts.
  • Maintain active role on internal Continuous Improvement teams.
  • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs.
  • Maintain analytical equipment.

Education/Experience Desired
  • B.S. degree in Chemistry

Senior Process Engineer
Position Responsibilities
  • Lead one or more continuous improvement teams
  • Troubleshoot problems in manufacturing processes
  • Improve the safety of manufacturing systems
  • Develop creative improvements to manufacturing processes
  • Identify and implement methods for manufacturing cost reduction
  • Coordinate and guide the planning and execution activities of continuous improvement teams
  • Provide process engineering expertise across the company
  • Guide successful accomplishment of project goals through collaboration with Project and Product Managers
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems
  • Work closely with Process Development and Manufacturing to commission new processes
  • Build cost models for processes and products in order to guide improvement activities
  • Document and communicate institutional knowledge throughout the organization
  • Make quantitative, fact-based decisions
  • Use judgment and experience to keep projects on track, make trade off decisions regarding risk, quality, schedules, resources, etc.
  • Direct projects to on time, on budget delivery with required quality

  • Develop training materials for Operations technicians. Participate in the technician qualification process by providing classroom instruction on basic principles, troubleshooting and process specifics.

Basic Qualifications
  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience performing hands-on chemical process design and optimization for specialty chemicals/gases

ESSH Generalist
Job Attributes
  • Provides technical support for on-going ESSH projects, problem solving, investigations including site inspections and audits, and activities;
  • Assist in developing an effective ESSH communication process to make ESSH priorities and performance visible;
  • Facilitates and participates in job safety analysis, process hazard analysis and pre-startup safety review teams including the driving of inherently safer technology, preference for engineering solutions and ‘doing it right the first time’ concept;
  • Assist with the maintenance of the company’s chemical management system;
  • Organize and maintain ESSH performance, compliance, policy and procedural information including electronic backup of critical information;
  • Develops and implements industry best practice systems for an effective ESSH program while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, reporting, ESSH statistics and trend analysis;
  • Research and keep informed of pertinent information and developments in areas such as state and federal laws and regulations such as OSHA, USEPA, and USDOT;
  • Involves & engages employees in developing ESSH programs, processes and performance measures;
  • Monitor the completion of action items generated from Safety Helpdesk, ESSH audits, inspections and incident investigations;
  • Provides on-the-floor ESSH coaching and recognition; and
  • Assists with implementation and support of ESSH Team responsibilities.

Qualifications
The following qualifications are required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental or Occupational Safety, or equivalent ESSH work experience with a minimum of 4 years of applicable work experience
  • Training and certifications in OSHA, DOT, and RCRA are preferred

Senior Process Development Engineer
Develops and scales up process technology for manufacturing Voltaix products. Possesses substantial technical skills and takes initiative in transferring chemical syntheses from R&D into production environment, and optimizing existing small scale production. Highly trained and experienced in fundamental chemical engineering principles and knowledgeable in standard Voltaix procedures for safe gas and chemical handling. Theoretical and practical technical expertise in process design, process equipment design, instrumentation and control, and technical writing. Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation, wiring, and mechanical problems in existing installations and during startups. Highly experienced and skilled in developing PFDs, mass and energy balances, P&IDs, equipment designs, control strategies, operating procedures, preventive maintenance guidelines and cost estimates.

Qualifications

Strategic Sourcing Manager
The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience in contract negotiation and developing and maintaining sources of strategic raw materials, particularly those produced by few suppliers. Voltaix is looking for an individual with a proven track record of developing strategic sourcing programs that enhance Voltaix’s competitive position through combinations of developing multiple external and internal sources. This is a leadership role, requiring clear communication skills, excellent negotiating skills, and superior strategic vision. A chemical engineering degree and significant Asian negotiating experience are required.

Job Attributes
  • Perform structured analysis (e.g. FMEA) of raw material supply chain and develops risk- and reward-prioritized areas for improvement.
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, & pricing with Voltaix Suppliers for thinly sourced critical raw materials.
  • Excellent and proven communication skills, including concise and clear email communications, ability to develop and explain complex business agreements with simple, well constructed summaries, develop and deliver presentations to senior management and lead vendor negotiations.

  • Execute supplier agreements in conjunction with Legal and internal stakeholders to ensure contracts terms and conditions are in compliance with corporate and purchasing guidelines and needs.

  • Provide on-going competitive analysis of commodity market, supply base, competitive activity, and benchmarking.
  • During negotiations, leverage market data and quantitative analysis to ensure a higher informational awareness than person(s) across the negotiation table.
